If you decide to come surfing in Portrush with Alive we want to make sure we leave no stone unturned! It is normal to have lots of questions when booking a surfing lesson so we have tried to answer the most common questions below however if you want more detail or if you have a different question please do not hesitate to ask.

How much is a surfing lesson and what is included in the price

An Adult surfing lesson is £30, under 16’s £25. If you have a group of ten or more people everyone gets £5 off their lesson. The summer kids camp is £70 for four days, Monday-Thursday.

We try to include as much as we can in the cost, you will get all of your equipment (surfboard, wetsuit, boots and gloves in the winter), a drink and snack for after the surf and free showers and changing rooms are at the beach. We can also arrange for photos to be taken if you ask when booking. All you need to remember is a towel and swimwear for below your wetsuit.

How safe is surfing?

While learning to surf is a very safe sport there is a risk involved as with almost any sport you may try. We do everything we can to adhere to our motto ‘be safe and have fun’.

Alive is the only surf school in Ireland that has achieved ‘Adventuremark’ accreditation. This is the highest standard in safety available for activity providers in the UK. All of our surfing instructors are fully qualified beach lifeguards, we take every class through full safety briefings and are more than happy to answer any questions.
